Pearlitic SG (Spheroidal Graphite)

Pearlitic SG rolls are classified as indefinite chill-type materials designed to deliver a balanced combination of strength, wear resistance, and thermal stability. Their microstructure consists of nodular (spheroidal) graphite and carbides uniformly distributed within a pearlitic matrix, providing excellent mechanical integrity and controlled hardness penetration.

The presence of spheroidal graphite improves toughness and reduces stress concentration, enhancing resistance to thermal fatigue and fire-cracking—particularly when softer grades are selected for demanding rolling conditions.

Bainitic Acicular SG

Bainitic Acicular SG rolls are engineered with a nodular graphite structure embedded within an acicular (needle-like) bainitic matrix. The microstructure contains an increased volume of hard carbides along with controlled martensitic phases, resulting in a material that delivers outstanding strength and wear resistance.

The acicular bainitic matrix enhances mechanical toughness while maintaining high surface hardness. This balanced metallurgical design provides superior resistance to abrasion, thermal fatigue, and surface degradation under demanding rolling conditions.
